| The butt of this cue is completed. The owner will determine the shaft specifications. That will have some effect on final weight and overall length of the cue. Serial number 00046 features 100 inlays. The inlays in the butt sleeve are done in a mosaic style. Individual pockets were not cut for each inlay. An outline only pocket (see below) was cut and each piece was shaped by hand (using micro files) to mesh with the other pieces like a jigsaw puzzle. That means no two pieces are identical even though they look identical to the naked eye. I mention this only because a mosaic style requires a different level of craftsmanship than normal inlays. It also takes about 5 times as long to create. 80 of the inlays are contained in the 4 mosaic designs in the butt sleeve. Each design is made up of 5 pieces of elephant ivory, 8 pieces of bloody basin jasper, 6 pieces of yellow heart and one of Amboyna burl. The 4 points of Gaboon ebony spliced into a highly figured curly maple forearm each contain 5 pieces of ivory. Each point is outlined with a black, a yellow and a red veneer. The butt sleeve is Gaboon ebony. The cue has ring work on both sides of the butt sleeve; the forearm and the same rings are included at the joint collars. The joint is Stainless steel. The graduated stitch rings contain 60 rectangles of cocobolo and 60 rectangles of maple. They are flanked by brass rings, which are in turn bordered by white linen rings. There is a weight bolt chamber in this cue, but there is no bolt currently in it. One can be added to increase overall weight up to about 2 ounces. This cue comes with two RAVEN tapered hard rock maple shafts.
